RUSTON - The Lady Techsters (17-14) came away with victories over Mississippi Valley St., Grambling St. and Jackson St. after day one at the Track Kat Klash.
Tech got off to a fast start with easy wins over the Devilettes (648-505) and the Lady Tigers (753-577) in matches one and two, respectively.
Tech dropped match three against Monmouth University (800-679) to end Tech's six match win streak.
The Lady Techsters played sixth-ranked Arkansas St. in game four and took the first three games. However, Tech struggled in the fourth game and dropped the match 793-728.
Tech defeated Jackson St. (713-660) to end day one of competition 3-2. The Lady Techsters recorded a 3,521 pinfall for an average of 704/game.
"Overall, it was a mixed day," said coach Shawn Jackson. "I'm happy with the way the girls played and we'll continue to get better as a team. We have to learn how to finish matches, especially against great teams like Arkansas State."
Louisiana Tech currently stands in eighth place. Day two will begin at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
