RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech women's bowling squad return from the holiday break to begin the second half of its season, starting with the Mid-Winter Invitational, which will be hosted by the Arkansas State Lady Red Wolves beginning Friday, Jan. 11 through Sunday, Jan. 13 in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Lady Techsters and first-year head coach Jerry Miles will compete against fierce competition as they battle the likes of the nation's top ranked teams, voted on in the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association.
Tech will face off against No. 7 Arkansas State, No. 6 Nebraska and the No. 1 team in the nation in Central Missouri, along with several other top-notch teams over the course of the weekend.
Most recently, the Lady Techsters are coming off an impressive showing at their latest tournament, the Track Kat Klash in Huntsville, Texas, where the team placed eighth overall and matched its result from the first tournament of the season, the Tulane Invitational.
"The ladies have come a long way and are improving, not only in their bowling style and efficiency, but also in their ability to read the lanes and adjust to different, never-ending changes in lane transition," Miles said. "I feel certain the team will once again have a great tournament and finish in great fashion."
The three-day invitational will feature a combination of Baker matches, individual competition and bracket play as the Techsters look to shine among the nation's best.
The annual tournament will be held at the Jonesboro Bowling Center and is slated to be all-day events from Friday through Sunday.
