RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's women's bowling team returns to action for the first time in 2014 as the team travels to compete in the third annual Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston beginning Friday in Houston, Texas.
Louisiana Tech, along with twenty other teams, is scheduled to compete in the annual event, which will take place at Palace Lanes. Sam Houston State, a team that is currently ranked seventh in the National Ten Pins Coaches Association poll, will play hosts to the opposing teams.
Head coach Jerry Miles and his Lady Techster team will face stiff competition as eight teams scheduled to compete this weekend are ranked in the top 10 coming into this week, including No. 1 Arkansas State, No. 2 Nebraska and No. 3 Maryland-Eastern Shore.
LA Tech will also face off against two in-state opponents with Tulane and Grambling State scheduled to compete in the event this weekend in Houston.
The last time Louisiana Tech competed, the team came in third place in the Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. in the month of November.
The three-day tournament begins Friday with six quad baker matches. Saturday the teams will compete in traditional team matches, while Sunday will feature a best-of-seven baker bracket action.
