Tech Track Heads to Fayetteville for Nationals

RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech Track and Field team will be sending eight student-athletes to the NCAA National Championship Meet on Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark. at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Meet
"We're obviousy very excited to be competeing in the National Championship Meet," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "This is the pennacle of a college athlete's career in track and field and i'm very proud of our team this year."
Tech's lone student-athlete competing in a field event is senior Nadia Alexander who will be competing in the shot put. Alexander's top throw of 54' 8.75" is ranked as the sixth best throw in the country.
The Lady Techsters will send three athletes to the National Meet to run in individual events as junior Kamelia Stroy and sophomore Monique Wright will both be competing in the 400m and Antoinette Cobb will be competing in the 100m hurdles. Stroy and Wright will also be running with the 4X400 relay team.
Running with Stroy and Wright on the relay team will be senior El Charrita Reynolds and junior Lashannda Worthy. Alternates for the relay that will also be traveling with the team are Shante Benion and Stacia Hanneman.
Field events are set to kick off Wednesday along with a number of track prelims which will lead into the finals that will last through Saturday, June 13.
