RUSTON - A win, a loss and a tie was the result of the Louisiana Tech women's soccer team this weekend as it wrapped up the spring exhibition season with an 11-1-3 record.
The Lady Techsters first competed in the Panda Cup in Dallas, Texas. Tech faced Tulsa from Conference USA on Saturday and played a bigger, more physical team to a 0-0 tie.
On Sunday, Tech played West Texas A&M in its final game of the Panda Cup and won 1-0 on a goal by freshman Emily Brennan. The Lady Techsters then got on the bus and traveled to Tyler, Texas to face Tyler Junior College.
The two full 11-on-11 games in one day might have been a little too much to handle as Tyler handed Tech its only loss of the spring season 2-1. Freshman Taylor Dennis scored the only goal for the Lady Techsters who played all three games within a 24-hour period.
"It was a tough weekend with five starters out due to injury," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "It was a good opportunity for others, but some might not have been ready for the amount of playing that was done over a two day period. It was a good two days of service and learning."
Louisiana Tech's spring season is now over, but the Lady Techsters have one more event to participate in as they will be giving back to the community by holding a free soccer festival on April 30 starting at 10 a.m. The event will feature 4v4 games as well as carnival-like contests all held at the Louisiana Tech Soccer Complex.
