Tech Soccer Ends Spring Season with 1-0 Win
April 18, 2010
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's soccer team wrapped up the spring season with a 1-0 win at Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
Sophomore Rachel King scored in the 70th minute with a header on the run from 12 yards out. She was assisted on a cross pass from Rebecca Spence.
Rain fell at the start of the game as players struggled to adapt to the conditions. As the game continued however, the Lady Techsters controlled the tempo of the game with crisp passing and movement.
"It was a good performance to end the year on," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "Texas A&M-Commerce is a very strong team and the game was very competitive.
Tech finished the spring season with a record of 3-1 and also enjoyed a first and third place finish at the 7v7 tournament in Conway, Ark.
"Overall the spring season has been very positive," Sherry said. "You can see improvement in all aspects of the game in almost every player on the roster. This is what you want to see, as we seek to gradually improve on each year of playing and being together as a team."
