GRAMBLING, La. - Louisiana Tech pitched their second road shutout of the weekend as they dominated Grambling State to the tune of a 6-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at GSU Soccer Field.
LA Tech (4-4-1) happily ended a long seven-game road stretch, winning three of their last four matches.
"Not our best performance but any win on the road is a bonus," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "The heat didn't help the game to have any flow to it. We lacked a little bit of composure in front of the goal which we need to improve on."
Douglas helped on the second goal of the first period as well, sending a long through ball to Madison Doll who ran through and finished a one-on-one versus the keeper.
The Techsters tacked on four more goals in the second period, beginning with a cross by Douglas to Taylor Dennis who controlled the ball off her chest and volleyed it in for the finish in the 60th minute.
In the 65th minute, Abby Sentz passed to Dennis who took a touch, turned and beat the keeper for her second goal of the afternoon.
The final goal came in the 80th minute when Lethbridge chipped the ball over the backline to Kailee Hervey who ran through the defense to volley home the ball from close range.
LA Tech returns home for the first time in almost a full month when they host Southern on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
