RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech soccer head coach Jen Soileau has another reason to be happy- the Techsters have inked yet another goal keeper to add to already a great recruiting class.
Tara Gavlak from Colleyville, Texas, is a 5’5” goal keeper who has lettered four years under head coach Lincoln Hunt for the Colleyville Heritage High School Panthers. She has been named first team all-district for 5-5A in 2005 and Defender of the Year twice in 2004 and 2005.
“Tara’s an extremely aggressive goalkeeper,” Tech head coach Jen Soileau said. “She’s very good in one-on-one situations, and she’s good at winning crosses and corner kicks. One of her best attributes is that she can punt the ball about as far as I’ve ever seen for a college keeper. Her punts go beyond midfield, and that will be very helpful in starting our offense.”
Gavlak will be competing for the goalie against sophomore Nicole Didier and incoming freshman Jill Erin Medigovich from San Diego, Calif.
“All of our keepers bring different strengths to the team,” Soileau said. “Goal keeping training will be interesting this fall.”
