RUSTON - Louisiana Tech's Department of Kinesiology hosted a National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament this past weekend and the Lady Techster soccer team was quick to volunteer for the event.

The event was held in Scotty Robertson Memorial Gym and the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on the LA Tech campus.

The soccer plays helped usher players, kept stats, officiated the games, retrieved balls and swept the courts.

"I am very proud of my team who live the four pillars of our program," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "They continually give of themselves."

Jared Rehm, adaptive sports specialist and head wheelchair basketball coach for Auburn, presented a seminar on adaptive sports and the past, present and future of them within the community.

Students from LA Tech and Grambling State competed in the intramural wheelchair basketball games with the inaugural tournament represented by teams also from Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.
