RUSTON - Louisiana Tech is gearing up for five weekends of soccer this upcoming spring season, highlighted by the fourth annual Soccer Fun Fest which will have a little extra fun to it as the team celebrates the 10th anniversary of the program.
The youthful roster is coming off a 2013 fall season which resulted in a 9-10-1 record and came within one win of earning a berth to the Conference USA tournament in their first season in the highly competitive league.
Offseason workouts have since led the team to the spring slate which opens on March 15 at Moore Park in Lafayette, La. at the Louisiana Cup.
The Lady Techsters then make the first of two trips to Little Rock, Ark. to take on Harding University on March 23.
On the following Saturday, March 29, the Soccer Fun Fest will kick off at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex with a kids mini soccer tournament at 10:30 a.m.
At noon, a friendly will take place between community parents and LA Tech coaches versus Hillside F.C., an independent support group of the Techsters that creates one of the best soccer atmospheres on game days.
At 2 p.m. LA Tech will take on ULM in a full 90-minute match with two 45-minute halves.
Following the match, England Select Club will face the Cajun Soccer Club with a cookout starting soon thereafter.
All invited can contribute food and drinks to the cookout and partake in the festivities during the Alumni game which begins at 6:15 p.m.
The spring season will cap off with a visit to Tyler, Texas on April 5 versus Tyler JC and University of Texas-Tyler and on April 12 at the `Kick for the Cure' 7-a-side tournament at Burns Park in Little Rock, Ark.
Dates and times are subject to change.
Any alumni, especially those from the original 2004 team, can contact assistant coach Kiva Gresham (email@example.com) for more information.
