RUSTON - For the second straight year, the Louisiana Tech soccer staff will be hosting a one-day Spring College Prep Camp for female soccer players in grades 9-12 wishing to compete at the collegiate level.
The camp will take place on Saturday, May 10 and will provide the committed soccer player with exposure to a competitive Division I training environment and an opportunity to work with the head coach Kevin Sherry and his assistant coaches.
It will begin at 9 a.m. with a three-hour soccer session featuring soccer drills to help develop technical and tactical play which in turn can be used as a foundation to learn one's role on the team according to position.
The campers will also participate in small-sided and full-sided games and will receive additional information from the LA Tech soccer staff on topics such as how to approach the recruiting process, player development and the demands and expectations placed upon a college student-athlete.
The day will conclude with 8v8 and 11v11 games.
Goalkeepers will also get the special privilege of getting to work with assistant coach Josh Wagenaar for two separate 45-minute goalkeeping sessions during the day. Coach Wagenaar has played professionally as a goalkeeper in some of Europe's top leagues and has also represented his country, Canada, at the national level.
He currently has his NSCAA Level 3 goalkeeping certificate. His experience and knowledge of the goalkeeping position makes this a "must not miss event" for those goalkeepers looking to play at the next level.
The cost of the camp is $105 with a $10 discount if registered by April 10th. The price already includes a camp T-shirt.
For more information, contact assistant coach Josh Wagenaar at (318) 512-5505 or email@example.com.
