RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech soccer program conducted its third annual Soccer Fun Fest and for the third straight year the event was a huge success.
The extravaganza kicked off Saturday morning with kids playing a wide variety of carnival fun games such as sumo wrestling, target shooting, ball juggling and obstacle courses.
Many local youngsters also participated in a 3v3 tournament broken up into three age groups and LA Tech prizes awarded to the winners.
The Lady Techsters then took on Jackson State in their third game of the spring season, winning 2-0 behind Brittany Beddow's two goals.
Other matches on the day included soccer parents of the community and alumni of the LA Tech soccer team.
"What a great day," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "It was a huge success. Twenty-one alumni was a record number and it was great to see so many old friends. The Tech game was a great advert for Tech soccer. The passing and combination play was a joy to behold. I wish to express my thanks to everyone who participated and helped to make it such a great day."
Throughout the event, live music was provided by Radio 94.1 FM and food (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.), beverages and LA Tech Soccer t-shirts were sold as part of the program's fundraising efforts.
