RUSTON - Louisiana Tech soccer coach Kevin Sherry announced today the addition of Jenny Bitzer to the 2013 recruiting class.
Bitzer is a versatile player who can play right or left side at defender or midfielder and will provide more depth for Sherry who previously inked 16 new signees who all have a variety of club level experience.
"Jenny is very quick, strong at 1-on-1 defending, has a good tactical understanding of the game and is a team-oriented player," said Sherry. "She is a great student and is open-minded with a strong independent personality. These characteristics are very important for a young player to have when traveling so far from home to play.
"She will provide some extra speed to the squad which we can utilize either in defense or midfield. She is another great addition to the LA Tech soccer program, joining possibly the strongest recruiting class we have ever had."
A native of Messstetten, Germany, Bitzer was promoted in 2012 to the 1899 Hoffenheim reserves in the country's third club level.
She was a member of the All-Region Team of Baden who finished third in the German U17 Cup and was a winner in the German U15 Cup.
Bitzer is an accomplished athlete who also had a third place finish in the heptathlon at the German Junior Track & Field Championships in 2006 and 2007.
