RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's soccer program's second annual soccer fun fest is Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex. Also taking place during the occasion will be the first ever soccer Alumni and Faculty and Staff soccer games.
The event is yet another free service put on by the Lady Techsters with the intention of promoting the sport of soccer in the Ruston community. They already offer free soccer clinics and have created the Ruston Soccer Club.
Fun Fest will start off with kids' games followed by a contest for parents at 1:30 p.m. LA Tech Faculty and Staff will then take on the Lady Techster soccer team at 2 p.m. The day ends with the first ever Alumni game at 3 p.m. as former members of the Tech soccer program face off against the current Techster squad.
Along with the soccer games, other festivities for children - including inflatable bouncers and SUMO suits - will be offered from 12-2 p.m. Free popcorn, cookies and drinks will be provided as well.
Due to home softball games on Saturday, all participants are encouraged to park in the parking lot next to Joe Aillet Stadium and use caution when crossing West Alabama Avenue. In the case of rain, the kids' events will be cancelled but the alumni and faculty and staff games will take place as scheduled.
Louisiana Tech faculty/staff and Lady Techster soccer alumni who are interested in playing in the respective games can contact assistant coach Kat McCullough at email@example.com for more information.
