RUSTON - After hosting a successful spring camp, head coach Kevin Sherry and the Louisiana Tech soccer staff is now preparing to conduct an Elite Summer ID Camp.
The two-day event will be held on Aug. 1-2 for female players going into grades 9-12 who wish to compete at the collegiate level.
The camp provides the committed soccer player with exposure to a competitive Division I training environment and an opportunity to work with the LA Tech coaches at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
It will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday night with a two-hour session featuring a mixture of technical soccer drills to help develop tactical play. The camp will carry over into Saturday morning with another two-hour session beginning at 8 a.m.
The campers will participate in small-sided and full-sided games and will receive additional information from the staff on topics such as how to approach the recruiting process, player development and the demands and expectations placed upon a college student-athlete.
Goalkeepers will also get the opportunity to work with assistant coach Josh Wagenaar for two separate 30-minute goalkeeping sessions during the day. Wagenaar has played professionally as a goalkeeper in some of Europe's top leagues and has also represented his country of Canada at the national level.
The cost of the summer camp is $65 (overnight stay not provided). The price does include a camp t-shirt. Campers can sign up online at louisianatechsoccercamps.mycustomevent.com.
