RUSTON - Before the Louisiana Tech soccer team officially kicks off the 2013 season, a ceremony will take place on Aug. 7 to showcase the new stadium lights at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
The project began in late February with power lines being put in place under the field and took nearly four months to complete as the four poles were mounted onto the foundations and connected to the power source.
At 7:30 p.m., the soccer community will gather with the Lady Techsters squad as they host a kids mini soccer tournament and parent scrimmage during which time a meet and greet will take place with the team.
At around 8:30 p.m., everyone is invited to watch as the lights will be officially turned on for the first time.
The first night match at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex is set for Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. versus Central Arkansas.
The addition of lights is just one of many facelifts the complex has received in its fifth year of existence. Prior to hosting the WAC Soccer Tournament in 2010, the facility added a new press box, permanent bleachers, a sound system and scoreboard.
