RUSTON, La.—Head coach Kevin Sherry and his Lady Techster soccer squad will get their final tune-up for the 2007 season as they head to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex. Louisiana Tech is 1-1 in the preseason with a 3-1 win over LSU-Shreveport last Sunday and a 1-0 setback to Ouachita Baptist on Monday. Freshmen Brooke Lanie and Lindsey Gamill have provided the offensive spark thus far, and they will look to continue to prepare for the fast-approaching season. Southern Miss is coming off a 4-9-1 season in 2006 with an 0-9 mark in Conference USA play. Six starters return for the Golden Eagles, including junior Sarah McFadden, the team’s leading scorer with six goals and three assists a year ago. The Techsters and Golden Eagles met in regular-season play last year, with Southern Miss claiming a 4-0 victory in Hattiesburg. USM’s McFadden scored two goals to lead the Golden Eagle attack.
