RUSTON, La. - Fresh off an 8-0 win at Grambling State, the Louisiana Tech soccer team faces another Southwestern Athletic Conference member in Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday at 4 p.m. at Lady Techster Soccer Field. Tech enters the match with a 3-2 record after its shutout win over the Lady Tigers on Wednesday. The Lady Techsters recorded season-highs in goals (8), shots (21) and shots on goal (12). Junior Rachel King scored two goals and currently leads the team with three on the season. Overall, the scoring was spread throughout the team as seven different Lady Techsters scored a goal en route to giving head coach Kevin Sherry his 100th career win. Three newcomers recorded their first collegiate points as freshmen Paige Dunn and Lauren Africa each notched an assist and freshman Rebecca Spence scored her first career goal. It was an offensive output that Tech hopes will continue into Friday's match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Lady Lions enter the match with a 1-1 record after their first win of the season, a 9-0 victory over the University of Ozarks. Their lone loss of the season came against Arkansas State, the same team that Tech fell to last Sunday and by the same score (1-0). Nicole Parks-Powell leads UAPB in goals on the season with three while Silvia Fuentes leads in assists with four. The Lady Lions return nine starters from a team that went 12-7-4 last season and qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the SWAC. Tech has never lost to UAPB, leading the all-time series 2-0-1. The two teams last faced each other in 2008 which resulted in an 8-0 Tech win. Admission is free to every regular season Lady Techster soccer match.
