RUSTON, La. -- Following Louisiana Tech's 7-1 win over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday at the Lady Techster Soccer Field, the Lady Techsters will visit Nicholls State Friday for a 4 p.m. kickoff at the Nicholls Soccer Field.

LA Tech enters the game with a perfect 3-0-0 record, while Nicholls State comes into the match with a 1-2-1 record. The Colonels last played Aug. 30 and suffered a double overtime 3-2 loss to Troy.

Tech head coach Kevin Sherry realizes the game will be a challenge for his team, especially since it will be played in Thibodaux, La.

"Nicholls State will be a tough match-up for us with the contest being on the road," Sherry said. "They have a new coach who is in the process of turning the program around. It will be a challenge and it is one that we are looking forward to facing."

Through Tech's first three games, they have given up only three goals on 28 shots. Goalkeepers Cat Buchanan and Aly Dicker have combined for eight saves and a 1.16 goals against average in 285 minutes.

Coming off her first hat trick of her career and the fourth in Tech's history, Rachel King leads the team with three goals and seven points. Kiva Gresham and Kat McCullough are tied for first on the team with two assists.

"I have been very impressed with our defensive play thus far," Sherry said. "In our practices, we have been concentrating on our offense. We will continue to look closely at the technical level of our strikers to see who will stand out and emerge as our No. 1 attacking player. We have been creating a lot of good chances, but still need to find that player with ice in their veins who can finish, prior to the start of our conference season."

The Lady Techsters and Colonels have played each other two times with Tech winning both contests. The two teams last met in the Nicholls State Tournament in Thibodaux in 2006. Tech walked away with a big 7-0 victory.
