LA Tech Hosts Troy, Jacksonville State on the Pitch
Sept. 7, 2017
RUSTON – After spending most of its time on the road so far this season, the Louisiana Tech women’s soccer team will enjoy playing four of its next five matches at home beginning on Friday night versus Troy at 7 p.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
The weekend will also include a home matchup against Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
LA Tech (4-1-1) hopes to carry over its stellar play on the road – four victories and one draw – to its home pitch. The undefeated road season continued this past Sunday with a 2-0 win over ULM in Monroe.
After some halftime adjustments, striker Jenna Dages delivered what would be the game-winning goal in the 48th minute. It was the sophomore’s second score of the season.
Fellow striker Mylene Roy-Ouellet recorded an insurance goal in the 69th minute. The junior now leads the team with three goals.
The Lady Techster defense has played a huge role in the team’s success through six games, registering three shutouts while not allowing multiple goals in any of the other three matches.
The first opponent of the weekend, Troy (2-4-1), has two victories on the year coming against Alabama State and Jackson State by scores of 2-0 and 9-0, respectively.
The Trojans are coming off two matches in the Jaguar Classic where they played a scoreless draw with Jacksonville State and lost to Alabama. They are led in scoring by Julia Winter who has three goals and one assist on the season.
LA Tech leads the all-time series over Troy, 4-1-1. The Lady Techsters were undefeated against the Trojans until the last meeting in 2015 that saw Troy take the victory 1-0 in the Trojan Classic.
The second opponent, Jacksonville State (2-2-2), was on a four-match unbeaten streak with wins over Alabama State and Middle Tennessee, as well as draws versus Georgia State and Troy, before falling to South Alabama in its last match. The Gamecocks are led by Danielle Monroe who has notched four goals.
LA Tech also leads the all-time series versus JSU, 3-1. The Lady Techsters defeated the Gamecocks in Jacksonville last season by a final score of 1-0.
Admission is free to all home matches. Free pizzas and signed schedule posters will be available Friday night. On Sunday, fans can purchase popcorn for $1.
For those unable to attend, the match will be streamed live on CUSA.TV ($). Fans can also follow @LATechSOC on Twitter for live in-game updates.
