Roy-Ouellet’s Hat Trick Drives LA Tech to Victory
Sophomore striker Mylene Roy-Ouellet netted a hat trick and five other Lady Techsters scored to propel Louisiana Tech to a 9-0 shutout win over crosstown foe Grambling State on Tuesday night at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.

LA Tech (5-1-2), who is undefeated on the road this season with four wins and one tie, will be hoping for its stellar defense to shine like it has thus far. They have allowed just four goals through eight matches while not surrendering multiple goals in a single game.

Up top, the success has come off set pieces. Four of the 13 goals scored this season have come from free kicks, two of which happened in the recent win over Jacksonville State at home.

Freshman Elizabeth Doll netted a header goal almost midway through the first half off a corner kick and junior Mylene Roy-Ouellet tallied her team-leading fourth goal off a deflection in the 57th minute which started with a corner kick into the six.

Getting the shutout in net was junior Courtney Tompkins who had her fourth start at goalkeeper. She has a team-high 24 saves to go with her 2-1-1 mark in goal.

Under first-year head coach Justin Wagar, Grambling State (2-4) has been very competitive this season. Their two victories have come against Texas A&M-Texarkana and UC-Riverside while three of their four losses have been by only one goal.

Four different Lady Tigers – Kiawna Mounts, Janee Harris, Sage Nelson and Kaylee Holt – have scored for GSU. Jordan Woodward has gotten all six starts in net, allowing seven total goals.

Wednesday will mark the 10th time that LA Tech and Grambling State (2-4) face off on the pitch, making it the longest series in program history.

The Lady Techsters lead the Lady Tigers, 6-3, having won each of the last six meetings by a combined score of 41-1. This will be the fifth straight year the two teams play. Last season in Ruston, LA Tech won 9-0.
