Tech soccer will travel to Texas to compete in the Lady Jack Soccer Classic against Stephen F. Austin and Texas State on Sept. 16 and 18.
The Lady Techsters (5-1) will kick off the tournament tomorrow at 7 p.m. against S.F.A. (3-3), and then Tech will play Texas State (1-6) on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Tech takes its five-match winning streak into the tournament, with four of those wins being shutouts. The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff ended the Lady Techsters' streak of not allowing a goal at 392 minutes in the 13th minute of Tech's 8-1 pounding of the Golden Lions on Sept. 13.
However, freshman goalkeeper Chrissy Haisler look to start another streak of not giving up a goal and continue the winning streak in the matches this weekend. The Lady Techsters are first in the Western Athletic Conference in goals allowed per game at 0.67 and first in shutouts with four.
On the offensive side of the ball, Tech leads the WAC in every offensive category, including shots, points, goals, assists.
Freshman forward Emily Cleaveland leads the WAC with 13 points and five goals, while standing tied for third in shots with 18 and assists with three. Kodi Bethay, Kat Peters, Hayley Smith, Denise Wilson, Kathleen McCullough and Brook Kelly are also in the top 10 in the WAC for goals scored, and the Lady Techsters must continue their offensive output to compete with S.F.A. and Texas State this weekend.
S.F.A. has played stiff competition, defeating Baylor, Arkansas-Little Rock and Arkansas State while dropping matches to Texas A&M, Rice and Houston. Texas State's only win came against Prairie View A&M.
After their trip to the S.F.A. tournament, the Lady Techsters will come home to face McNeese State on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.
