Tech Soccer's Winning Streak Snapped by S.F.A.

The Lady Techsters' five-match winning streak came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Stephen F. Austin in the Ladyjack Soccer Classic on Friday night.

Tech and S.F.A. battled throughout the first half with no score at halftime, but the Ladyjacks turned up the heat in the second half, as S.F.A.'s Amanda Alders scored in the 60th minute and Kristel Lindsey added a goal in the 73rd minute.

Tech freshman goalkeeper Chrissy Haisler recorded 11 saves on 20 shots by the Ladyjacks, and S.F.A. outshot Tech 20-10 in the match.

Freshman midfielder Kathleen McCullough led the Lady Techsters with three shots, followed by Kodi Bethay's two shots, but none of the shots hit the back of the net. Tech averaged 4.5 goals per game during its winning streak, but the blank in the scoring column at S.F.A. marked the second shutout in as many losses.

The Lady Techsters will continue their play at the Ladyjack Soccer Classic with a match against Texas State (1-6) at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
