RUSTON, La. ? After tying their first home match at Joe Aillet Stadium this season to Arkansas State on Friday evening, the Lady Techster soccer team is looking for a win over Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Tech (3-3-1) plays host to the Lady Lions (5-1-1) in a game coach Jennifer Burns said is important to get a win in to get over a hump that has hindered the team thus far. With a short bench, Sunday games have challenged the Lady Techsters to overcome their lack of depth and leave it all on the field again.
?Sunday?s have been our weakness because they put so much into Friday,? Burns said. ?I hope they are able to recover physically and mentally and bounce back and decide they?re not going to accept this again. We?ve learned a lesson from Friday, and we?ve got to put the ball in the back of the net.?
Tech has gone winless in its last four games and lost two of those games by one goal. The team is just three goals away from being 6-1-0. Knowing it has been not scoring and taking advantage of opportunities for Tech, Burns said she has to have one of her players make a statement against Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday.
?We have to get a win,? Burns said. ?It?s been four games since we?ve got a win, and we?ve had two overtime games in that span. We were just a couple goals short. Somebody?s got to step up and put the ball in the net for us.?
Sunay's game will be aired on KLPI 89.1 FM with Binni Keleta calling the action. If you can't catch the action on the radio, follow this link to hear the game streamed live over the Internet: http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-playlist.pls?rn=114447&file=filename.pls
