RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech head coach Kevin Sherry announced last night that the Lady Techsters will be traveling to Tyler, Texas tomorrow to take on the UT Tyler Patriots in a 5 p.m. kickoff.
This game is serving as a replacement for the unfortunate cancellation of the SE Missouri State match originally set to be played on the same day. Redhawk senior Meghan Herndon passed away Thursday afternoon after suffering severe injuries in an autombobile accident, prompting the school to cancel it's weekend matches.
This will be the first time in program history that the Techsters will take on Division III opponent UT Tyler who participates in the American Southwest Conference. They are currently 5-2 on the season after coming off a 4-0 conference victory over LeTourneau.
LA Tech enters the match on a five-game unbeaten streak after taking a 1-0 win at home yesterday versus McNeese State. Freshman midfielder Erica Stewart provided the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute off a free kick assist from fellow freshman Brittany Beddow.
