Techsters Fall to Arkansas State 2-0
The Arkansas State University Lady Indians scored two second half goals and kept Tech from earning its first-ever win with a 2-0 shutout on Friday at Indian Soccer Park.
Junior Shawna Sparks scored both goals for the Lady Indians (0-5) to extend her team-leading total to six goals on the season, and Arkansas State out-shot Tech 23-0 during the contest.
The Lady Techsters' (0-5) defense kept Arkansas State out of the nets until the 64th minute, when Sparks broke the scoreless knot with a successful penalty kick and put the Lady Indians up 1-0. Sparks struck again in the 85th minute to put Arkansas State up for good and earn the two-goal victory.
Tech's goalkeeper Jade Berbert recorded nine saves in the contest, as the Lady Techsters are still searching for their first win in program history and their first goal of the season.
The Lady Techsters will be back in action on Sept. 28 when they travel to Shreveport to face the Centenary Ladies at 7 p.m.
