Oct. 3, 2008

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Louisiana Tech head soccer coach Kevin Sherry knows what's at stake over this coming weekend: the chance to clinch the program's first winning season.

The Techsters (8-2-1) will first will be a makeup a game against Prairie View A&M Saturday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m., and then against Houston Baptist Sunday, Oct. 5. These will be the last two non-conference matches before the Techsters begin WAC competition.

"We're going to treat as if it were conference, mentally," Sherry said. "If we can win these two games before conference, we'll have a winning season. The goal is two wins, and we'll try as hard as we can. It is going to be tough because both teams are good, and because we play two games in two days, it can be tough on the travel squad."

Prairie View's (1-8-1) sole win this season came in a conference match against Texas Southern.

The Techsters are led by freshman Kristen Sevier, who leads the team with seven goals and three assists. Freshman Olivia Lukasewich also has four goals on the seasons with three assists.
