RUSTON - October has arrived and so has a truckload of donated pumpkins to the historic Townsend House of Ruston thanks in part to the Louisiana Tech soccer team.
This past weekend an 18 wheeler filled with the ornaments of autumn were delivered to the beautifully restored home on 401 North Bonner Street for the annual pumpkin patch season.
The pumpkins of all shapes and sizes were unloaded by the soccer players and have been displayed all around the courtyard as part of the team's continuous community service efforts throughout the region.
These pumpkins will be sold to raise money for D.A.R.T., a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, empower and advocate for all victims and their children in north central Louisiana who are touched by domestic violence. They offer and implement public education programs regarding the far-reaching consequences of domestic and dating violence.
