LOGAN, UTAH-- The Lady Techsters (7-4-0, 0-1-0) lost their conference opener today to the Utah State Aggies (4-6-3; 1-0-0) by a final score of 2-0.
“Even with the loss, I’m really proud of the girls,” head coach Jen Soileau said. “We’re going to learn from the experience, watch the video, and get ready for Friday.”
The Aggies hit their first shot at the 33-minute mark with a 16-yard strike from Lindsay Lauro and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Lady Techsters had an opportunity to tie the game at the 69-minute mark with a free kick that hit off the crossbar. Less then a minute later, freshman Savannah Russo was red-carded while trying to make a tackle on a breakaway and forced the Lady Techsters to finish the game with only ten players.
The Aggies scored a late goal in the 88-minute and took the conference opener, 2-0.
Tech accumulated only two shots on the entire day compared to the Aggies 34.
“They really had the advantage shot-wise,” Soileau said. “They took us out of our game, and won the game. We’ve learned from every loss we’ve had.”
The Lady Techsters will return home to play Hawaii Friday at 5 p.m.
