SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Louisiana Tech soccer team ran into a San Jose State team leading the Western Athletic Conference on Sunday and lost 5-0.
The Spartans (6-8-2, 3-0-1 WAC) halted the attack of the Lady Techsters (4-7-2, 0-3-0) allowing Tech to take just three shots in the match, and San Jose State also got all its goals in the first half of play.
Jessica Scott scored her first of three goals in the 10th minute of the contest with assists from Nicole Martinez and Heather Oranje on the play. Scott added her other two goals in the 27th and 33rd minutes for the hat trick and her sixth goal of the season.
Jackie Zabek scored her second goal of the season on a header for San Jose State, and Nicole Irwin scored her fifth goal of the year.
The loss keeps the Techsters winless in WAC play and keeps the Spartans undefeated after they tied with Utah State on Friday. The shutout Sunday was San Jose State’s fourth consecutive shutout, a school record.
Tech returns home for its final two home matches of the season this week with contests against Fresno State and Nevada. Fresno State comes to Ruston for a match at 7 p.m. Friday at Joe Aillet Stadium with the Wolfpack coming Sunday.
