RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech and Hawai'i will each try for their first conference win when the two teams meet on Friday at 4 p.m. at Lady Techster Soccer Field.

Tech (11-4-1, 0-4 WAC) will be looking to break its season-long four game losing streak. They most recently fell at Fresno State 1-0 on Sunday, Oct. 11.

"Hawaii is the best soccer playing team in the WAC and this will be a real challenge for our young team," Tech head coach Kevin Sherry said. "Results have shown that we are now competitive in this conference, only losing by the odd goal to some very high level programs. The organization and hard work is there for all to see, and we just need a little more effort in the attacking phase of the game before we start seeing results go our way."

Tech's 50 goals scored this season tie for the NCAA lead and they are outscoring their opponents 50-12. However, in conference games this season they are being outscored 6-1. Tech is coming off a 1-0 loss at Fresno State where they were shutout for the third time in four games.

Hawai'i won the last meeting between the two schools last season with a 2-4 win. Hawai'i has outscored Tech in the series 13-2 and leads the all-time series 4-0. The Lady Techsters are 0-26-6 all-time in Western Athletic Conference play.

The Rainbow Wahine (4-8-1, 0-2 WAC), like the Lady Techsters, are coming off back-to-back losses to San Jose State and Fresno State. Both games were 1-0 defeats. The trip to Ruston will be the first time since Sept. 20 that they have played a game away from the Big Island. Britta Bourne leads the team in goals with six. She's also taken the most shots on goal with 37. Kanani Taaca (2-1-0) and Kristina Ehrett (1-4-1) have shared time in goal this season.

"As a team, we are exactly where we want to be," Sherry said. "Everything is going to plan and when this team matures with one more year behind them, together with one more good recruiting class, I can see this team making great strides in the WAC. We just need to be patient and keep working hard, our time will come."
