Fresno State (6-8-1, 3-1 WAC) downed Louisiana Tech (7-7-0, 0-4-0 WAC) 3-0 Friday night in Western Athletic Conference soccer action in California.
Cortney Sobrero scored first for Fresno State at the 15-minute mark, and the Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
?We were really competitive for the first 35 minutes,? head coach Jen Soileau said. ?We stayed in their territory for most of that time but were unable to get shots off. I was very proud that we held them to only one goal in the first half.?
Kortney Lewis followed in the second half for Fresno State with two goals of her own in the 57th and 60th minutes to give the Lady Bulldogs the final score of 3-0.
Tech was again held to only two shots on the night, but the defense this time held Fresno State to only 18 shots, an improvement over the last three games of over 30.
?We?re continually getting better,? Soileau said. ?We?re definitely very young, but we?re solid. (Freshman) Brittany Davis is our rock in the backfield. She organizes our backline and makes no mistakes. She plays like a junior or a senior.?
The Lady Techsters will play again Sunday at 3 p.m. in Reno, Nev., to take on the Lady Wolf Pack of Nevada.
