Idaho Downs Techsters 2-0
RUSTON-- The Idaho Vandals (3-15-0; 1-5-0 WAC) defeated the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (7-9-0; 0-6-0 WAC) Friday afternoon 2-0 at the Lady Techster Soccer Field.
Less than thirty seconds into the game, the Vandals scored on a controversial goal from Eija Hodgin where the line judge called the ball inside the net on a save by Tech keeper Chrissy Haisler.
“We got off to an unlucky start,” head coach Jen Soileau said of the call. “It really took the wind out of our sails and gave them an advantage.”
The Vandals scored again in the twentieth minute from Adriane Kahl off a corner kick to get the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Both teams remained scoreless in the second half, but Soileau felt as though her team dominated and played well.
“I really thought our girls dominated the second half,” Soileau said. “We switched formations and stayed in their territory, but we just couldn’t score the goals.”
Coach Soileau said even with the loss she believes her team fought hard and has a bright future.
The Lady Techsters return to action Sunday when they face the Boise State Broncos at 11 a.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Field.
