Tech's Gresham Named Honorable Mention All-State

HAMMOND – Tech freshman forward Kiva Gresham was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Women’s Soccer Team, which was released Sunday by the LSWA.

As a freshman, Gresham made an immediate impact on the Tech soccer program as she scored four goals and added three assists to total 11 points on the year. She led the Lady Techsters in all three categories. She was also the only Tech player to start all 17 matches on the year, and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the season-opening LSU Classic in Baton Rouge.

Gresham, a native of Albuquerque, N.M., scored her first collegiate goal – and Tech’s first of the year – against Southeastern Louisiana in a 3-1 loss. She added another tally against Stephen F. Austin, then scored consecutive game-winners against Centenary and McNeese State. She also added an assist in the Centenary win, and became the first Lady Techster to notch two helpers in a conference match as she assisted on both Brooke Lanie goals in a 4-2 loss to Boise State.

NCAA Tournament participant LSU led the way with five first-team selections, and McNeese State’s Kamryn Koch was named LSWA Player of the Year. The Cowgirls’ Alana Clark and LSU-Shreveport’s Caitlin Smith shared Freshman of the Year honors, SLU’s Kristin McDonald was named Newcomer of the Year, and Brian Lee of LSU was the LSWA Coach of the Year.

The top 10 vote-getters among position players and the top goalkeeper were named All-LSWA First-Team. An additional 10 players earned honorable mention selections by virtue of receiving multiple votes and at least one point for every two ballots cast.

The 2007 LSWA All-Louisiana Women’s Soccer Team was nominated and selected by the state’s sports information directors.
