Joanna Crowson begins her first year at Louisiana Tech as a volunteer assistant coach for Mark Montgomery and the Lady Techsters softball program.
Crowson brings a resume that includes an accolade-filled playing career in high school and college as well as coaching experience on both levels.
In addition to working with Montgomery at Centenary College in 2009 and 2010, Crowson served as the head coach at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas from 2005 through 2007 where the program was ranked as high as sixth in the state in Class 6A. She has also served as an assistant softball coach at Parkway High School (2004, 2007-08) and Southwood High School (2008-09).
Crowson earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Louisiana College in 2003. During her playing days at LC, she earned all-division, all-conference, all-region and All-American honors while setting the program's single season and career home run record at the time. The four-time conference hitter of the week recipient helped lead LC to the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) national title as a senior.
During her high school playing days at Parkway High School in Bossier City, Crowson earned numerous awards, including being named all-state as well as district and city most valuable player.
Crowson has a six-year-old son named Dakota.
