OXFORD -- Ole Miss pitchers Carly Hummel, Shelby Jo Fenter and Madi Osias combined to toss a no-hitter while leading the Rebels to a 3-0 win over Louisiana Tech Wednesday night in Oxford.
Ole Miss struck for all three runs in the bottom of the third inning. RT Cantillo led off with a solo home run to centerfield off of Tufi, giving the Rebels a 1-0 lead. The Rebels then used two more hits and a Tech fielding error to plate two more unearned runs to take the 3-0 lead.
Tufi and Duran combined to keep the Rebels off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.
Offensively, Tech couldn't solve Hummel, Fenter and Osias. Janine Godwin drew a one-out walk in the top of the seventh inning to break up the perfect game but Osias retired the final two batters to pick up her third save of the year.
Hummel improved to 7-5, tossing four scoreless innings while striking out five.
Tufi took the loss, allowing three runs - one earned - on three hits in 2.0 innings of work. Duran tossed four scoreless innings, scattering five hits and one walk.
Tech returns to action tomorrow when it faces Belmont at 5 p.m. CT.
