Meanwhile Kirk prevented a Tech batter from reaching second base as NT catcher Bryana Wade threw out both Anna Cross and Kristen Miles trying to steal second base in the first three innings.

NT stretched the lead to 3-0 in the sixth with back-to-back doubles by Spencer Ferrell and Miller.

Kirk's bid for the no-hitter was spoiled when Tufi led off the seventh inning with a double to left centerfield. Tori Charters came on to pinch run for Tufi and advanced to third on a ground out by Duran.

Charters then scored on a wild pitch as Janine Godwin walk, bringing the tying run to the plate in Hailey Winter. After Godwin advanced to second on a wild pitch, Winter grounded out sharply to third base to end the game.

Pinch runner Taylor Penn then broke for second base on a steal attempt and Bryana Wade's throw down to second base ricocheted off of the glove of shortstop Brooke Foster. The ball carried all the way to the centerfield fence, allowing both Miles and Penn to score as Tech took a 3-2 lead.
