Marshall 5, LA Tech 2 (Game 1)

Tech took a 2-1 lead with single runs in the second and third frames but Marshall scored three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to defeat the Lady Techsters in the first game of the day.

After Marshall plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the first on a two-out single against Tech starter Bianca Duran, the Lady Techsters fought back and tied the game in the top of the second. In the top of the fourth inning Tech threatened again. Hill walked and Lowe singled to centerfield and both runners advanced a base on a Charters sacrifice bunt for the first out. However, once again Dixon came through for the Herd, striking out Cross and and then getting the third out on a runners interference call at shortstop.

Marshall finally struck back in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs and runners on second and third, Savannah Webster tripled over the head of Kristen Miles in left field, plating two runs. Webster then scored on a fielding error by Tech upping the advantage to 4-2. The Herd added an insurance run in the sixth inning and Dixon retired the final three batters in the seventh to pick up the victory.
