![]() Geisler's Big Day Lifts Techsters to Fall Win
Nov. 2, 2010
RUSTON - Junior Allie Geisler belted two home runs and drove in seven runs to lead Louisiana Tech to a 9-0 win over LSU-Eunice this past weekend down at Demon Field in Natchitoches. The win avenged two earlier losses to LSU-E this fall when the Lady Techsters were shut out 1-0 and 2-0 in Eunice. Freshman Katelynn Hill gave Tech an early 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the third inning. Geisler then added to the lead with a two-run triple in the top of the fourth inning, scoring Janna Frandrup who reached on a double and Megan Knowles who drew a walk. Geisler connected on her first home run of the game in the top of the sixth inning - a two-run shot - plating Frandrup who led the frame off with a walk. Tech plated four more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Kendra Harmon doubled and was then driven home by an RBI single by Frandrup, increasing the lead to 5-0. Knowles then singled to put runners on first and second before Geisler belted her second home run of the game to end the scoring. Freshman Erin Kipp picked up her second win of the fall in the circle, tossing five shutout innings while allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out four. Michelle Jones came on in relief and scattered five hits over the final 2.0 innings of work. In addition to Geisler's three hits and seven RBI, Frandrup added two hits, three runs and one RBI while Harmon also registered a pair of hits. In the second game of the day, Northwestern State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and defeat LA Tech 4-1. After Northwestern State took an early 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the second inning of Tech starter Meghan Krieg, Frandrup tied the game up in the third with an RBI double scoring Harmon who doubled to lead off the frame.
Krieg shut the Demons down, allowing only two hits, two walks and the one unearned run through 5.0 innings before being relieved by Frandrup in the bottom of the sixth inning. NSU then plated three runs on five hits in the sixth to win the game. Frandrup led Tech offensively with a pair of hits and the RBI, while Harmon, Charday Wilson, Heather Doiron and Molly Goza each added one hit. Tech completed its fall exhibition schedule with a 4-3 mark.
