RUSTON – Louisiana Tech will travel to face Grambling State in a softball doubleheader Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Lady Techsters struggled this weekend during the season opening tournament hosted by Sam Houston State, dropping all four games. Thus, Tech head coach Sarah Dawson said she would use Tuesday’s doubleheader to work on basics. “Given our performance this weekend, we need to go back and work on executing fundamentally,” Dawson said. “I want to use tomorrow’s games as an opportunity to get fundamentally stronger in a game situation.” Dawson said she was particularly disappointed in her team’s defensive performance over the weekend as Tech registered 15 errors during the four games, leading to 13 unearned runs and ultimately costing the Lady Techsters an opportunity to win two of the games. Freshman Danielle Sheridan leads Tech with a .571 batting average while sophomore Rochelle Sandberg and junior Carly White each carry a .375 average. Junior Ashley Cameron leads Tech with two home runs and three RBI. Dawson said freshman Krissi Oliver (0-2) would make the start in game one Tuesday for the Lady Techsters.
