@LATechSB Travels South to Compete in Purple and Gold Challenge

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Fresh off of its second win over a Top 25 team this season, Louisiana Tech will travel south to compete in the Purple and Gold Challenge hosted by LSU Friday through Sunday.
Tech (2-5) defeated 24th ranked McNeese State 8-7 Wednesday night in Lake Charles behind a season high in runs and hits.
The Lady Techsters will play Southern Utah (2:30 p.m.) and 7th ranked LSU (7:30 p.m.) Friday before facing Central Arkansas (12 p.m.) and Oregon State (2:30 p.m.) Saturday. Tech will conclude the tournament with a second matchup against Southern Utah Sunday at 9:30 a.m.).

Through the first seven games of the season, Tech is led offensively by Karlee Jensen (.412, 3 RBI), Ali Galaz (.357, 2 HR, 4 RBI), Morgan Turkoly (.273, 3 RBI) and Bayli Simon (.231, 1 HR, 1 RBI). As a team, Tech is batting only .217 but is coming off its best offensive showing of the season in the win over the Cowgirls.
In the circle, five different pitchers have seen action for Tech, including Bailey Allen (0-0, 2.62 ERA), Preslee Gallaway (1-2, 3.82 ERA), Jenny Chapman (0-0, 5.25 ERA), Jensen Howell (1-1, 5.88 ERA) and Krystal De La Cruz (0-2, 6.30 ERA).
