RUSTON - Louisiana Tech freshman Pauline Tufi was named the Conference USA Player of the Week following her performance in the Lady Techsters five games this past week.
Tufi, who hails from Anchorage, Alaska, helped lead LA Tech to a 4-1 record on the week while batting .600 with nine hits in 15 at bats. She registered four doubles, three runs scored and nine RBIs in the five games while recording four multi-hit games and three-multi RBI games.
The true freshman posted a career-high three hits (3-for-3) in Tech's 3-1 win over South Dakota, and she recorded a career-high four RBI in Tech's 11-2 win over Alcorn State. Tufi also logged 9.1 innings in the circle with a 3.00 earned run average, striking out 13 and walking three.
For her efforts, Tufi was named to the ULM Warhawk Classic All-Tournament Team. This is the first C-USA Player of the Week honor of Tufi's career.
Tufi will lead the Lady Techsters into this weekend's Woooo Pig Fastpitch Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas which starts Friday and runs through Sunday.
North Texas senior right-handed pitcher Ashley Kirk was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 on the weekend as the Mean Green (12-3) swept its second tournament in a row and extended its win streak to a league- and school-best 11 games.
