@LATechSB Falls to Aggies in Sunday Finale
March 4, 2018
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M infielders Kaitlyn Aldernick and Riley Sartain combined for four hits and seven RBI to lead the seventh ranked Aggies to a 10-1 win over Louisiana Tech Sunday afternoon.
Tech (10-12), which fell 1-0 to Texas A&M on Friday, had early opportunities offensively to put runs on the board, leaving the bases loaded in both the first and the third innings. The Lady Techsters did plate one run in the first inning on an RBI single to left center by freshman Sloane Stewartson off Aggies starter Lexi Smith.
However, Tech couldn’t muster any more runs in the frame as a strikeout and foul out ended the threat.
Tech starter Bailey Allen pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning but then ran into trouble in the bottom of the second. The Aggies plated three runs in the second inning on four hits as sophomore Jenny Chapman came on to get out of the jam.
The Lady Techsters had an opportunity in the top of the third inning loading the bases with two outs but once again Aggies starter Lexi Smith pitched her way out of trouble.
Texas A&M plated three more runs in the third and four more in the fourth as the Aggies banged out 10 hits in the win.
Tech opens Conference USA action next weekend with a three-game series at Middle Tennessee.
