RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will travel for its first midweek game of the season Wednesday when the Lady Techster softball team faces Stephen F. Austin at 4 p.m.

LA Tech (9-9) is coming off an impressive performance last weekend at the Northwestern State where the Lady Techsters won four out of five games, including two victories over UL-Monroe and a win over the Lady Demons - snapping their 11-game winning streak.

The Lady Techsters boast a .309 team batting average through the first 18 games of the season led by Erin Kipp (.449, 7 doubles, 14 RBI, 9-9 SB), Anna Cross (.372, 13 runs, 12 RBI, 14-14 SB), Kristen Miles (.370, 11 runs, 10-11 SB), Meghan Knowles (.347, 5 doubles), Amanda Krueger (.333, 13 runs, 15 RBI, 8-9 SB) and Janna Frandrup (.296, 6 runs, 6 RBI).

Tech is one of the nation's leaders in stolen bases as it has successfully swiped 64 in 69 attempts this year with an eye on possibly breaking the single season mark of 138 set in 1995.

In the circle the Lady Techsters are led by Michelle Jones (6-4, 2.61 ERA), Erin Kipp (3-2, 4.40 ERA), Mel Goff (0-1, 5.73 ERA, 1 save), Frandrup (0-2, 6.35 ERA, 1 save) and Cross (0-0, 7.00 ERA).

Stephen F. Austin is 5-13 on the season but have played some tough competition with games against Texas A&M (3), Oregon State, Oregon, San Diego State, North Carolina (2), Texas and Pittsburgh (2).

The Ladyjacks are led offensively by Shalie Day (.304, 5 RBI) and Elizabeth Arana (.277, 8 RBI) who are the only two players sporting a batting average above .250. In the circle, SFA's staff is anchored by Carlie Thomas (5-4, 2.54 ERA) while Angela White (0-9, 8.08 ERA) has seen 10 starts compared to Thomas' eight starts.

Tech leads the all-time series against SFA 41-20 although the two teams split last year's two-game series with each team winning on the road.
