RUSTON - Louisiana Tech returns to the Lady Techster Softball Complex this weekend to host its first ever home Conference USA series when the UTEP Miners come to town for the three-game series.
Due to the weather forecast, Saturday's doubleheader has been moved up to 11:30 a.m. while Sunday's single game remains at 1 p.m.
Tech (8-15, 0-3 C-USA) looks to snap a five-game losing streak that includes two loses against Top 25 teams and a pair of heart-breaking 2-1 losses to UTSA in their C-USA opener last weekend in San Antonio.
Offensively, the Lady Techsters have struggled during their five-game losing streak, scoring only seven runs, including only one in each of the last four contests. Kristen Miles (.338, 17 runs), Bianca Duran (.319, 6 doubles, 7 RBI), and Tori Charters (.310, 6 runs) lead Tech in batting average while Pauline Tufi (.246, 13 RBI), Anna Cross (.220, 2 HR, 14 RBI) and Alayna Kipp (.196, 3 HR, 14 RBI) are the top run producers.
Duran (3-10, 3.63 ERA), Tufi (5-2, 3.02 ERA) and Cross (0-3, 6.33 ERA) continue to carry the load in the circle for the Lady Techsters.
UTEP (9-17, 1-2 C-USA) lost two out of three in its C-USA opening series at home against Southern Mississippi.
The Miners are batting an impressive .307 as a team this season. Erika Arcuri (.379, 20 runs), Ashley Eldridge (.354, 2 HR, 22 RBI), Tahla Wade (.346, 11 runs), Miraya Montiel (.344, 12 runs), Samantha Alvillar (.343, 17 runs), Colleen Hohman (.295, 3 HR, 14 RBI), Alannu Leasau (.292, 5 HR, 16 RBI) and Kayla Black (.236, 1 HR, 12 RBI) have all been contributors at the plate.
