Tech Softball to Once Again Take on Southern Miss

Southern Mississippi will get two chances for revenge on the Lady Techster softball squad Thursday, as Tech travels to battle the Lady Eagles at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in a double header beginning at 5 p.m.
The Lady Techsters (12-11) will lay their four-game win streak on the line, but Tech is in safe hands with senior Marla Pinkston (8-8) expected to take the mound. Pinkston has earned all four wins during Tech's win streak and has only given up one earned run in 30 1/3 innings.
Offensively, the dynamic duo of Amber Miles and Brittany Stanley will lead the attack on the Lady Eagles (12-14). Miles is batting .304 and leads the team in hits and runs scored with 24 and 13, respectively. Stanley is strong at the plate with a .357 batting average and is second on the team in hits and runs scored with 20 and 11, respectively.
The one-two punch, as first and second in the batting order, once again started a rally for the win Tuesday night. Each player singled and scored, along with Jessica Elson, to give Tech the 3-1 victory over Northwestern State University.
For Southern Miss, seniors Danielle Hatfield and Jessica Holaway lead the Lady Eagles in pitching, as Hatfield brings a 4-3 record to the table accompanied by Holaway's 4-4 mark.
Tech defeated Southern Miss 4-0 at Louisiana State University's Purple and Gold Challenge Feb. 20, and the Lady Techsters look to once again knock off the Lady Eagles and extend their win streak to five games.
