OXFORD, Miss. - Louisiana Tech will face its third Southeastern Conference foe of the season Wednesday when the Lady Techsters travel to Oxford for a 6 p.m. single game against the Ole Miss Rebels.
The contest begins a five-day road trip that sees LA Tech play five games as the Lady Techsters will head to Nashville, Tennessee to face Belmont Thursday before then play a three-game Conference USA series at Middle Tennessee starting Saturday.
Tech (8-18) is looking for its first win since defeating Stephen F. Austin 5-3 on March 1 in Fayetteville as the Lady Techsters have dropped eight straight, including three one-run games.
"We are going to continue to focus on the process," said head coach Mark Montgomery. "Obviously, we our current streak has been frustrating. The girls are working hard and we certainly haven't lost faith. We know we are capable of playing better. I believe in this team, and I believe in the process. I will be surprised if we don't play well during this trip."
Ole Miss is 16-13 on the season which includes a 2-0 win over No. 1 ranked Florida two weeks ago. RT Cantillo (.500, 14 runs, 38 hits) leads the Rebels and is one of the top offensive players in the country. Allison Brown (.360, 3 HR, 18 RBI), Alyssa Invergo (.354, 2 HR, 10 RBI), Haley Curley (.309, 9 RBI), and Jamie Morgan (.304, 13 runs).
Shelby Jo Fenter (5-4, 2.46 ERA), Carly Hummel (6-5, 2.61 ERA) and Emily Gaitan (3-2, 3.12 ERA) are the main arms in the circle for Ole Miss.
Tech counters offensively with Kristen Miles (.348, 18 runs), Tori Charters (.333, 6 runs), Bianca Duran (.316, 10 RBI), Erin Kipp (.293, 15 runs, 11-12 SB), Janine Godwin (.283, 9 runs) and Pauline Tufi (.260, 1 HR, 16 RBI).
