RUSTON - Through the first weekend of the Western Athletic Conference season, Louisiana Tech boasts a number of leaders in the most up-to-date softball stats released by the conference office on Monday.
Offensively, Tech boasts three of the top hitters in the league as junior Melanie Goff (2nd, .412), junior Janna Frandrup (6th, .388) and sophomore Erin Kipp (8th, .386) all rank in the Top 10 in batting average. Frandrup also ranks No. 1 in walks drawn (27), No. 2 in on-base percentage (.545) and No. 7 in RBI (22). Goff ranks No. 10 in slugging percentage (.588), No. 4 in on-base percentage (.524) and No. 5 in doubles (7). Kipp ranks No. 5 in slugging percentage (.659).
Junior Amanda Krueger ranks No. 1 in runs scored (29), No. 1 in doubles (10) and No. 3 in walks drawn (19). Junior Dacia Hale ranks No. 7 in stolen bases (5) while junior Meghan Knowles ranks No. 2 in sacrifice flies (3).
In the circle, Tech has three different pitchers who rank in various statistical categories. Junior Michelle Jones ranks No. 7 in earned run average (2.59), No. 9 in opponent batting average (.247), No. 4 in innings pitched (103.0), No. 3 in wins (9), No. 3 in starts (18) and No. 4 in fewest home runs allowed (3). Frandrup ranks No. 3 in earned run average (0.91), No. 6 in opponent batting average (.226), and No. 2 in fewest home runs allowed (2). Goff ranks No.3 in saves (2).
The Lady Techsters opened WAC play this past weekend, winning two out of three against Utah State. They return to action this weekend when they travel to California to face San Jose State Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. (DH).
