RUSTON - Louisiana Tech hosts an important three-game Conference USA series against Florida Atlantic this weekend as the Lady Techsters and Owls are set for a Saturday doubleheader and a Sunday single game at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Saturday's twinbill start at 2 p.m. while Sunday's finale is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day as all current and former military members are encouraged to come out to the ball park. The Lady Techsters will be wearing their unique camo jerseys to honor our military members.

Sunday will be Ruston Girls Softball League Day and Youth Sports Day as a post-game clinic and autograph session will be held by the Lady Techsters on the field following the contest.

Tech (11-21, 2-7 C-USA) is fighting to move up the Conference USA standings as only the top eight teams (out of 13) will qualify for the league postseason tournament in Boca Raton, Florida in May. The Lady Techsters are coming off a mid-week loss against Northwestern State but did win two out of three at Middle Tennessee last weekend.

Offensively, Kristen Miles (.342, 20 runs), Tori Charter (.293, 6 runs), Janine Godwin (.281, 5-8 SB), Bianca Duran (.280, 8 doubles, 16 RBI), Hailey Winter (.273, 2 HR, 6 RBI), Pauline Tufi (.269, 2 HR, 20 RBI), Anna Cross (.233, 2 HR, 19 RBI), Katelynn Hill (.232, 7 RBI) and Courtney Lowe (.171, 6 RBI) provide the bulk of the plate appearances for Tech.

Tufi (7-6, 3.62 ERA) and Duran (4-12, 3.88 ERA) will handle the duties in the circle for the Lady Techsters.

Florida Atlantic (22-15, 5-4 C-USA) boasts a strong pitching staff as the Owls are led by Samantha Messer (11-4, 1.75 ERA), Kylee Hanson (5-7, 2.09 ERA) and Amanda Wilson (6-3, 2.65 ERA). The trio has combined to toss 25 complete games and nine shutouts this season.

Offensively, the Owls have only hit four home runs this season. However, they boast six players with double digit RBIs. Christina Martinez (.353, 17 RBI), Mickey Bell (.267, 12 RBI), Melissa Martinez (.255, 16 RBI), Kathryn Spack (.253, 14 RBI), Shelby Knox (.200, 16 RBI) and Jordan Stovall (.196, 20 RBI) have all been run producers this season.

Florida Atlantic has impressive wins over Tulsa, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Penn State (twice) this year.
