RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will host Alcorn State in a non-conference softball doubleheader Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Tech (18-19) breaks from Western Athletic Conference action for the afternoon twinbill against the Lady Braves from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The Lady Techsters split a doubleheader against Alcorn State (16-20) earlier this year in Lorman, losing the first game 3-1 before coming back to win the second contest 11-2 in five innings.

Tech continues to be led offensively by sophomore Amberly Waits, who ranks second in the WAC with a .414 batting average along with six home runs and 28 RBI. Waits leads the league with 16 stolen bases.

Probable starters for Tech for the doubleheader will be junior Krissi Oliver (7-9, 2.33 ERA) and freshman Meghan Krieg (4-1, 1.32 ERA).

Alcorn State has won nine of its last 13 games.

Tech fans can follow all the action live on gametracker by logging onto www.latechsports.com.

Tech returns to conference play this weekend when it travels to Las Cruces to take on New Mexico State. The two teams will play a single game Friday at 7 p.m. CST and a doubleheader Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
